Chapter Announces New Board Officers
The ALS Association Greater
Philadelphia Chapter is pleased to announce the election of Ellyn C. Phillips
as Board Chair, Dan Quinn as Vice Chair, and Julie Karnavas as Treasurer. Sandy
Piersol will continue in her current role as Secretary.
Ellyn, Dan, and Julie replace the
departure of former Board Chair Christina Martin, Vice Chair Dale Shimer, and
Treasurer Larry Mink. The Chapter is most appreciative for the years of service
and dedication given by these individuals. As board leaders, they helped to usher
in an era of strategic growth and capacity-building, as well as establish a more
streamlined board structure to support programs and initiatives that improve
quality of life for all those served by the Chapter.
New Board Chair Ellyn C. Phillips
has been a devoted friend to the ALS community for more than three decades.
Together with her dedicated parents, Ellyn led the Chapter to earn designation
as the principal charity of the Philadelphia Phillies—an enduring relationship since
1984 that has markedly increased awareness of ALS and, so far, has cumulatively raised more than $18
million to fight the disease.
“As new board officers we are
assuming our roles at a time when the health of the Chapter has never been
stronger. We expect the Chapter to end
the fiscal year with exceptionally strong results that will allow us to
continue to grow in our mission, and we look forward to building on the committed
work accomplished by our departing officers,” says Ellyn.
